For those of you that don’t already know, our chosen charity for 2019 is the Multi Schools Council (MSC), and we look forward to supporting them on their upcoming conquest – ‘The Multi-Schools Council Walk’, which takes place July 1st-5th.

Our awesome employees will be volunteering and walking side by side with the charity, as we take on the challenge of walking to EVERY special school in Essex (18 in total), in just 5 days! All together that’s 150 miles, which is more than a marathon a day.

At GFM we will be sponsoring volunteers every day to walk between 22-28 miles, it’s a fantastic challenge and a great way to raise money for a special cause.

The estimated annual value of volunteers helping charities in the UK currently stands at £22.6bn and it’s great to know that we are helping to contribute to all the inspiring fundraising work that’s going on.

As well as supporting the walk, we plan to host a variety of fundraising events throughout the remainder of the year that will help MSC work towards their target of raising £100,000 in order to create multi-school councils all across England.

Pictured below is Kierran Pearce, a teacher at Market Field School in Elmstead Market, who founded the Multi-Schools Council in 2012 with the aim of breaking down negative perceptions towards children with Special Educational Needs, disabilities and mental health difficulties.
