Halloween Fundraiser Mind - GFM

At GFM we decided to get into the spirit of things this Halloween by holding a spooktacular event, which helped raise £350 to support our employee Justin Stone who is walking from Colchester to London on Christmas Day to raise money for mental health charity Mind.

Mind’s Impact

Founded in 1946 Mind offers information and advice to people with mental health problems and lobbies government and local authorities on their behalf. It also works to raise public awareness and understanding of issues relating to mental health. Although Mind is a national brand there are 132 local Mind associations providing services such as, supported housing, floating support schemes, care homes, drop-in centres and self-help support groups. In addition to its other activities, Mind campaigns for the rights of people who have experience of mental distress.

GFM Alien Invasion

To kick start this charity event alien heads were hidden all around the office and employees that were lucky enough to find one were rewarded with an awesome prize. Everyone was also welcomed to work with some super spooky treats that had been kindly created and donated by employees before the commencement of the fundraising activities, which included; a bake sale, pumpkin carving and fancy dress competitions and guess the number of UFOs (flying saucer sweets) in a jar and ‘Pin the UFO’ challenges. The fun didn’t stop there, in the afternoon popcorn and pizzas were delivered for staff to indulge on, again with all money raised going towards the fundraising.

Reflecting on the day our Executive Assistant Zoe Bamford said: “Not only did everyone have lots of fun during our Alien Invasion themed Halloween event, but it was obviously all for an amazing cause, Mind, who do incredible work in supporting people that suffer from mental health problems. As always it never ceases to amaze me how much effort all our staff put in to help raise money for our charity events and this is just one of many initiatives we have planned for the next 12 months at GFM.”
